INTERIOR DESIGN COLOUR TRENDS FOR 2020

April 6, 2020

As we all know the Interior Design Pantone Colour Of The Year is Classic Blue 19-4052. The soft greys have been very popular for quite some time especially in carpet, drapery and paint colours. With the move into 2020 and the Classic blue becoming prominent in the interior design market some are saying that blue will be the new grey. The Pantone Classic Blue chosen is rich, elegant and timeless. This colour can be incorporated easily into the home. Not only are we bringing colour into our homes we are also wearing it with fashion stores highlighting the emerald greens, rust, mustard, deep plum, deep blue, earthy browns and the feedback is customers are loving it!

Green is still strong, especially with the Dulux Colour Of The Year being Tranquil Dawn. This colour is a soft green. It’s demonstrating that we are wanting to come back to those soft nature colours creating a sense of calm in our homes. This colour was selected because technology is evolving and this colour allows us to really connect with one another in our homes especially starting the new decade. I personally love the green tones with interior design as they complement and connect the indoor and outdoor spaces.

Green is a beautiful back drop especially being used as an accent colour. I love working with layers throughout the home starting with the floors which ground the home. Paint colours can make or break the space, it’s all about getting the tones to balance beautifully. Wooden elements are becoming more prominent in homes especially in flooring, feature cabinetry and contrasting materials to balance the space.

Enjoy working with the colour that speaks to you and makes you happy, that’s what Interior Design is all about, allowing you to enjoy this beautiful journey. Have fun.
