Bringing spring into your home

August 16, 2016

With the days getting longer and the mornings brighter we can all feel excited that spring is not far away. When sprucing up your properties and giving them a lift here are some property styling tips for the spring/summer months ahead.

I personally love Spring as the gardens are blooming, the days are lighter and we start to wake up from our winter retreat; to enjoy the change in season.

De clutter:
Go through your cupboards, drawers and only keep what you love. One thing that has always stood out for me which my Mum passed on is to always surround yourself with the things you love. Whether it’s your grandmother’s tea set, a beautiful vase, or a piece of furniture.

Clean:
Clean your home starting with the windows, if your drapes are dirty then don’t hesitate in cleaning these too.
Open your windows and let the light and freshness in.

Fragrance:
Spray lavender on your pillow, which not only gives you a better night sleep it’s also very refreshing.
Add scented candles and essential oils which can really set the scene. (We like to include fresh fragrant candles or essential oils on every property we style.)
Bringing in a new plant to your space will create clean fresh air.
Add fresh flowers to your kitchen, dining, living and bedroom space, it’s often easier to pick these from your garden.
Use citrus sprays to create a clean fresh smell.

Colour:
Adding a rug with a pop of colour to a nursery or lounge space can give the room a lift.
Adding new design cushions to your space can also create another dimension.
Introduce a new artwork that inspires you and makes you smile.
Add some fun and punchy accessories to give the spaces a lift.
Get to work and paint your furniture which is called up cycling.

Remember that your home is a place for you to relax and unwind, entertain and enjoy. If you have too much clutter around it can become over whelming. Going through the process of de-cluttering and giving your home a spring clean can really lift your spirits and create harmony in your home.
