Interior Design extends to the outside: creating the perfect Alfresco space

September 29, 2016

 More and more Australians and New Zealanders are enjoying their alfresco areas, we all love the feeling of being able to enjoy the outdoors in the summer and winter months. Alfresco areas are becoming another extension to your home. You may be looking at an alfresco area as another space for your children to enjoy, or maybe a separate entertaining area for the adults.

 How are you going to use the space? Once you work this out then you can plan the layout and furniture arounds this. Do you want to add a gas fire, TV, lounge setting and have a separate space for dining?

 Adding an Alfresco area will really add value to your home when selling. Café blinds work extremely well to close off the space in winter as they keep the warmth in while having the versatility of opening the blinds up in summer to enjoy those gorgeous sunny days. Louvers for the ceiling are a perfect solution for all weather conditions too.

 It’s important that your alfresco area flows with the rest of the home and for the size to be large enough to accommodate your needs. When working on an interior design for a Geelong property and the alfresco living space we will often work with manufacturers to customise furniture to fit spaces for our clients. When planning your furniture do consider incorporating storage into the plan especially for storing indoor outdoor seat cushions, decorative cushions and anything else that you want to store away for when you need it.

 There is no reason why you can’t add excellent heating solutions to your outdoor space so you can walk into this space in winter and feel cosy and warm while it’s raining outside. Decorating is the fun part adding elements of texture to your sofa setting and working the layers from there. You can bring in warmth with your cushions, rug, artwork and lighting.

Have fun with your friends and family this summer!
