Creating a luxurious sanctuary at home

November 30, 2015

Trends with interiors change regularly, much like fashion. When we start to see a new trend, it can take time to filter into retail stores. Trend forecasters consider things such as the mood of society, current issues and how these might be solved along with major up coming events and exhibitions. When we look a trends predicted for 2016, we know that they have been a while in the making, some we will love, others we may not. Beautiful fibres, textures and elements of luxury will be a focus in helping to create a luxurious sanctuary at home. Think beautiful warm, textural wools, fur hides, and the use of minerals such as quartz, brass, gold and other metallic finishes.

Colours forecast for 2016 are beautiful soft greens, blush pinks and – at the other end of the scale – there is talk of strong colours being similar to the Australian outback working their way into our homes. think terracotta and deeper greens as referenced in the bush. Our lifestyles will continue to play an enormous role in how we want our homes to be. We can travel with our workplace at our fingertips, access information immediately, make plans, catch up with family and friends and so much more, all using technology. We can do this on the move, anywhere and any time. As a result of this constant overload of information, we are beginning to pull back. We want our home to be private, soothing and nurturing, a place where we can unwind from the busy outside world. There has been an increase in quality well-made furniture, home wares and lighting. Think sustainable and ethically made products, supporting our local artisans, so many of which are regularly featured in Geelong GT Magazine.

We will look at nature to soothe us and remind us of the beauty which surrounds us all. We will continue to be social, taking an interest in world events closer to home, but we will likely be more mindful of how we do this. Beautiful soft colours, streamlined, uncluttered designs free of unnecessary detail and embellishment, with a focus on quality materials and finishes, are ways of soothing our frazzled souls.

We are looking forward to helping you create the interior design sanctuary that you deserve.
