Interior Design on the surfcoast – Treat your guests

November 9, 2014

Lets get your guest bedrooms ready for summer especially for those of us on the Surfcoast when all the family staying over the Christmas period. Christmas is just around the corner and now is the time to get started on creating a retreat for your guests.

We all love pamering ourselves so why not pamper your guests and give them an interior design hotel experience. Clean all the services windows, skirtings and anything else that requires a clean, if you need to freshen up the paint now is the time to do this, and freshen up the drapes if needed. Start with fresh white bedding, beautiful 1000 thread count bedlinen, feather doona’s, feather pillows, fluffy bath sheets, fluffy robes, their favourite books and magazines displayed on a shelf in the bedside table for them to just put their feet up and relax when they are ready to umwind. Treat your guest to indulgent scents fresh flowers and natural oils starting with the reed diffuser for the bedroom, and the hand and body wash for the bathroom. My favourite fragrance from Ecoya’s range is French Pear.

With the bedside tables look at options with a drawer so your guests can put things away easily, choose bedside lamps that work well with the décor and create mood and are not too bright. Keep the look clean keeping away excess clutter which creates a relaxing environment. Make sure you have enough outlets for the phone and electronics we all have these days but try and keep these away from the restful bed area and have another plug available behind a console in the room to charge everything that is needed.

Have a place to put their suitcases either on a large basket or a luggage rack if this works, clean out the wardrobe so they have somewhere to hang their clothes and make sure there is enough hangers for your guests to hang their clothes up.   Make sure you have additional blankets and pillows if they require them. Your guests will feel at home and will have a relaxing space they can come too when they require their own space and may be back next year for another visit. Good thing is if they have an amazing experience at your place they will do the same for you.

Have fun and enjoy Summer!
