Warming up for winter – Geelong interior design inspiration

June 29, 2014

Well the chill is in the air and we have already lit our first fire and its not quite Winter yet! Despite the cold I actually love the cooler seasons as the times spent at home can be a time to ‘nest’ and relax and enjoy your home as a sanctuary.

While doing some research; I found this beautiful image the other day as I was working on an interior design project for a beautiful home in Geelong and it epitomized the look and feel of both what our client is after and the signs of winter on its way.  Inspired by the simplicity of the Scandinavian interior style a beautiful pallet of White, Black, Fur, Rustic greyed wood, black washed wooden floors and varying shades of whites, soft greys and warmth of dark fur grey creates a warm, relaxed interior perfect to help ward off the chill of winter.

Building your interior design with layers of texture helps to create interest without the clutter; introducing a simple thick wool pile rug with the clean lines of black chairs or a sofa is a great place to start. From here you can build on the play with texture to invite warmth and style into your home. A Fur throw may be beautiful but not everyones cup of tea so perhaps instead of fur introduce a beautiful thick knitted throw. Keeping your joinery simple, white or a combination of white and wood especially if sitting on floor boards. Rustic Greyed wooden pieces look beautiful if carefully selected and not over done. Perhaps it is the dining table that is of rustic wood combined back with clean white or black dining chairs, or a simple side table or bedside table of beautiful solid wood can provide a very strong yet simple interior design to your home.

Most of all the important thing for winter is to enjoy your time inside, Premium Interior Styling helps make the experience of interior design effortless. By engaging our Geelong team with interior design experience of 20 years your home can be transformed into a retreat for your winter experience.

Turn up the heater, light the log or gas fire and find a good book, curl up on the couch and enjoy winter!
