Geelong residential interior design goes Hamptons style

April 25, 2017

As most of my clients and friends would say, Hamptons is my favourite style. No matter whether it’s for a residential interior design in Geelong or an external design style for a home along the coast, if you are building or renovating, creating the ideal Hamptons’ home is my passion. We love the old character homes and these days you can still create this same Hamptons look when building a new home.

The weatherboard cladding works beautifully for the exterior. When choosing the paint colours for the exterior you can work with the soft neutral or grey paint palate and connect this through to the interior. Choosing the exterior paint colours is an art and we always recommend working with a professional on the paint colours. It can be a very costly mistake if you choose the wrong colour and getting it right first up is worth every cent.

If you’re like us and love relaxed living, then adding warmth and texture with soft furnishings and adding multiple layers to the space through rugs, artwork, cushions and accessories can really make your home a sanctuary. Creating separate spaces in the home works well for everyone; it may be creating a quiet reading area for the parents, TV play area for your kids to sprawl and an open space for dining and entertaining. As we all know, homes these days are much more open plan than they used to be. You can still create separate spaces quite easily and really make your home work well for the family and extended family.

I’m finding more and more of our Geelong residential interior design clients are looking for that quiet space to go to at some stage of the day or evening for their own mindfulness. It’s important that you have this space in your home so you are able to unwind from your busy day and have quiet time.

Make sure you keep the Hamptons style consistent throughout the home with the soft neutral paint colours on the walls, flooring you can explore engineered oak, exposed beams, traditional style tapware, white cabinetry with marble tops in the kitchen and bathrooms and plenty of light throughout your home.
